World Diabetes Day – 2023

14TH NOVEMBER is considered as WORLD DIABETES DAY and the THEME for 2023 is “ACCESS TO DIABETES CARE”. To commemorate this day DEPARTMENT of GENERAL MEDICINE, SCMCH&RI organized a guest lecture on 12-12 -2023.

The programme commenced with welcome address by Dr.Mohan Goudar Prof & HOD, Department of General medicine.
Introduction of speakers was done by Dr.Sanketh J, Assistant Prof. It continued with guest lecture by Dr.K.A.SUDARSHAN MURTHY former Prof. & HOD, J.S.S MEDICAL COLLEGE, Mysore on the topic of “Overview of Diabetes with Reference to ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM”. He gave a Reference to the importance of continuous glucose monitoring and Artificial Pancreas. He also emphasized on the use of SGLT2 INHIBITORS and the use of it in heart failure patients.

The Second speaker was Dr C.J TEJASWINI, Associate professor, JSS Medical College, Mysore on the topic on “DIABETES treatment in older patients – Incorporating Geriatric with functional Medicine”. She presented many case scenarios and the importance of using Metformin in Diabetic kidney disease.

Around 100 delegates /faculty attended the Guest lecture. Programmer concluded with felicitating all the speakers with mementos and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. ARUNDATHI, Senior Resident, Department of General medicine.
